Each student entering Taranaki Dio is allocated a “Big Sister” to help her on her school journey.
Big Sisters undergo training to support their Little Sisters, including helping girls settle into school, helping them understand the special events that happen throughout the year, and with Year 9s plant bulbs in autumn so that the gardens become a metaphor for courageous, resolute and successful women.
Big sisters are often a first port of call for pastoral concerns and provide a listening ear. They will also accompany students or refer them on to members of the pastoral care team for further support.
