A warm welcome from our head of boarding, Sue Roodbeen.
Boarding is such a wonderful experience for any young woman and provides greater opportunities for developing lifelong friendships, adding a richer dimension to school life.
Taranaki Dio Boarding Houses, Roberton and Girdwood, are two homes-away-from-home for boarders from Taranaki, throughout New Zealand and of course our international girls and Gap staff from overseas. These welcoming environments have created many cherished experiences for our boarders.
The diversity of personalities, interests and backgrounds makes the boarding community at Taranaki Dio a truly vibrant and dynamic one.
The girls have access to our facilities and the opportunity to participate in a variety of different social and sporting activities. Music, sport, drama, dance, and leadership figure prominently in a boarder’s life and their ‘busyness’ encourages them to develop effective time management skills and a belief in their unlimited potential. Academic support during prep and a well-structured social calendar are also provided within the boarding environment.
I am supported by a team of dedicated staff whose number one priority is always the welfare of your daughter. The staff come from a variety of backgrounds, including nursing and recreation. They all have been mothers and understand the needs and wants of teenagers. The Chaplain is also a key member of the boarding team.
We pride ourselves on providing a safe, caring, compassionate and nurturing home during the term time and our philosophy is that each and every girl is extremely precious.
We would be delighted to take you on a tour of the boarding house and school at any time to see for yourself all that we can offer your daughter in her boarding life at Taranaki Dio.
We hope that you and your daughter will feel very much part of our happy community.
