At Taranaki Dio every girl needs to understand the importance of physical activity for positive mental health and overall wellbeing. All girls are encouraged to participate either competitively or recreationally.
Sport plays a huge role in the holistic development of students and Taranaki Dio offers a range of sporting opportunities to develop confidence and work closely with other team members, striving towards a common goal, while also teaching them how to compete—how to win and lose—with dignity. Furthermore, sport improves physical and mental health, providing an outlet for stress and anxiety. Sport also contributes to a determined attitude and perseverance.
Taranaki Dio is a member of the Taranaki Secondary School Sports Association which offers Year 9-13 students the opportunity to play against other schools in our region across a wide range of different sports in both a competitive and non-competitive environment. In a recent TSSSA survey, 86 per cent of our students take part in sport and physical activity at our school.
